EARS
Meets at House of Blues
Tues. 5/29/01 @7:30pm
Our
next geekfest will be at this venerable venue where we will open
our flappy arms to our Sound Reinforcement bro's and sista's !
Fellow EARS faderbanger, Chris DeMonk will the take us on a tour
of this multi-faceted sound system where many live recordings
are also done, right Tim ? We'll discuss the many similarities
& differences of our stage v.s. studio specialties - from gear
to skills and the intricacies of working together in live recording
situation i.e. "in search of the first split" ! The usual, last
calender Tue. per month meeting will gather at 329 N. Dearborn
, between Kinzie and W. Wacker drive - in the shorter, 60's modern
building next to Marina Towers. Seek the lobby near their retail
trap, er, store. Pay-to-park lot is adjacent or CTA Red or Brown
line at Grand. F.Y.I. Lake Shore Drive is about a mile east.
Appreciation
File: Sincere thanx to Don Arbuckle who, with his crew, extended
their already long day to host us, feed us and give us the multi
floor tour of Audio Recording Unlimited, high atop the Tribune
Company's beautiful Wrigley Building's towers. He first led a
very insightful discussion of the trials and TRIB-ulations of
trying to make an profitable, honest living from our hard earned
skills. Ears cats Marty Feldman (who took and sent way cool pix)
and Kathy Dunaj shared their insights as vets in this end of the
business. It's clear that Mike King's company repre- sent the
class of our craft, maintaining loyalty to their engineers and
likewise superb support staff. In touring the technical underbelly
of these digs, these guys really do it right. More on the way-
cool technology he showed us later so stay tuned! NEXT, a special
EARS-cheer to Tom Parnell of Next Generation Marketing who co-ordinated
with Lexicon's Greg Hogan and local dealer, Perry Miller to set
up their new Lex 960 w/ LARC II in FULL SURROUND, letting our
ears be the judge in a very non-pushy demo and critical listening
opportunity! FINALLY, to those who re-upped their $15.00 dues
(HINT,HINT) via a check to the 501 classified, non-profit "EARS"
organization @ P.O.Box 578903,Chicago, Il.60657- It's how EARS
lives!
