EARS meets at A.R.S. Studios

11626 S. Pulaski, Alsip, Il
708-371-8424
Tuesday June 29 7:30pm

This month, EARS returns to the south (west) side to visit long time EARS supporters Gary & Dina Cobb. Besides checking out the 600 square foot facility featuring an 80 input Amek Galileo, Radar and Neuendo, we will be showcasing mic pre's made by Chicago area designers! Mary Mazurek

The lowdown: We'll showcase (alphabetically): Bill Curtis with his tube "Opre 8" that's been getting notice here and abroad. John Hachtel - E.E. & Recording and (Blue Man Group) S.R. engineer changed his session to bring his new quad channel, all tube design. Next, veteran craftsman and long time EARS supporter, John Hardy of M-1 & M-2 fame. Finally, Mike Stoica's "Sytek" 4 channel unit based on this writer's own Neotek Series-2 console!
Note: At this writing, we've been unable to confirm Matt Lesko but hope he'll get word and bring his new baby!

Directions: To get there from "Chicagah", take I-90/94 to I-57 at exit 63 (toward Memphis). Proceed to exit number 354, toward 119th St. going straight onto south Marshfield Ave. Turn right onto 119th westbound 3 miles turning right at Pulaski Rd. It's about a third of a mile down. - Gary Khan -

Appreciation File:

Special thanks to Mary Gaffney, Eric Rudd and WBEZ Radio for hosting last monthıs meeting. M. M.-

Editor's note: Gratefully, your loyal volunteer Eardrum staff & officers have all been crankin' and our original guests had to reschedule for later date. Many thanks to our esteemed EARS member-guests for moving up their presentation at what turns out to be a great location (ARS) to showcase! EARS vets may remember ogling a bevy of beautiful mic pre's at an earlier meeting, some 10 (!) years ago with then (very) Pro dealer & Pyramid Audio owner, Rob Vukelich, messin' with all of us by "double switchin" channels while staying on the same pre. We all contemplated the sonic "differences" we wanted to hear and were em-bare-assed to no end! I stood next to a then newer EARS member who whispered in my ear that she must be crazy but heard no change! Hah your Prez, Mary was the only one who caught him though too mild mannered to call him on it before his "yuk-it-up" revelation to us all. Time is short here but keep you EAR's on for upcoming, proper recaps of recent way cool meetings at Etymotic and WBEZ! As always, (members) check your emails or the EARS-Chicago.org website for the most current news, be it good, like the next meeting, or tragically necessary, like the rare passing of a comrade or quickest possible notice of any thefts.

Reminder for your PDA/Smart Phone hoodgies: The geniuses who founded EARS way back when realized that working engineers schedule work, subs or any vestige of a personal life long in advance but many wanted to attend as many meetings as possible. They came up with the simple but effective solution that lives on today! ALL meetings are the last calendar Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm, though locations and topics vary. Exceptions are very rare and noted promptly.
