EARS MEETS AT THE WFMT STUDIOS
5400 N. St. Louis, Chicago, IL
773-279-2000
Tuesday March 29, 7:30pm
Directions: take Kennedy (I-90) or Dan Ryan / Edens (I-94) to Foster then
East. If Lake Shore Drive (Rt.41) exit westbound or you'll go into the lake,
goofy! Get to Kimball, then North to Balmoral westbound, one way and drive
into the (free!) parking lot. If southbound on 41/94, exit at Peterson -
East to Pulaski and turn right (south) to Bryn Mawr eastbound (L) to
Kimball. Do a "Mapquest" if you need more hand holding than Pro engineers
normally do!
FYI: It's surrounded by Northeastern IL U. on St. Louis which is one way
southbound. CTA Brown Line ends at Lawrence & Kimball so either Kimball bus
north or hike it (portly engineers? yea, right!) to Balmoral.
After checking in with the receptionist at the front door, we'll enter in
groups to the ("Levin") Performance Studio so be more patient than yer
sessions talent & "Producers"! (Boy has THAT title been abused!)
So ...
We'll look at their spiffy new DAW, SADiE. Yes, Virginia, there are other
serious DAWS out there besides ProTools and many respected peers have made
it their choice! We'll dig in with our typically unbiased EARS (& eyes)
under the tutelage of past EARS Prez, veteran "tonemeister", member &
"SADIest" power user, Hudson Fair! If you're already a veteran user, do come
& share your opinions, questions, experiences and chops! We may even point
and laff at Cruel Edit! (Dat's a DAW joke if yer not already "carpal
syndromed")
We'll then tour this rare & nationally known, multi-studio / broadcast
facility and ogle the bewildered night crew who'll likely stare at us like a
deer in headlights! - Gary Khan
A Note: After your EARDRUM spread the sad word about our co-founder Marty
Feldman's passing, we heard from many who expressed condolences, shared
memories and richly humorous anecdotes! We called Nancy and passed all this
on to her. She thanked you all as she moves ahead with her near high school
age son, Eli. I, too, have warm and wacky memories and will miss his wit
and counsel so a hearty EARS Cheer to Marty! - G.K.
Details, news and Appreciation file to come so keep yer e-EARS tuned.
Nuff said!
