EARS MEETS AT NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
5500 North St. Louis, Chicago, IL
773-583-4050
Tuesday - May 31 2005 - 7:30pm
Location: 5500 North St. Louis Ave., Chicago, IL. For directions, see
details below or check online map,
Mapquest or CTA/RTA websites.
EARS meets next Tue 5/31 at Northeastern IL University 5500 N. St. Louis,
Chicago Fine Arts Building Recital Hall. Located in the Kimball / Foster
area next to WTTW/WFMT, Our Prez clues us in that parking is free in the
WTTW/WFMT parking lot but costs $5 to park in the Northeastern lot!
Entrance is at St. Louis and Balmoral, for you ("Maps On Us / Questors").
That's mid-way between Foster (5200 N.) & Bryn Mawr (5600 N.), 2 streets
west of Kimball (3600 W.) If coming from the North "hinters", exit Edens /
I-94 at Peterson and go east to Kimball. From the Kennedy I-90/94 (like
jettin' in O'Hare, as so many of you do!), exit East at Foster to Kimball.
From downtown expressways, also exit at Foster but note it's westbound.
Sneaky officers can (rarely) nail you illegally turning left of the exit
ramp.
If you don't trust yer Eagle eyes and stay legal, you'll need to turn
around either pulling in at the immediate left side street or at Pulaski,
the next major intersection.
To get to the Northeastern Campus Fine Arts Building, walk to the back
(west) of the WTTW parking lot, go through the chain link fence's gate and
follow the paved path right (north). Walk past the big building on your
left (library were da' books is) to the single story glass doors leading to
the Fine Arts Building after a 50 yard walk straight ahead. Make 2 lefts and
yer there. We'll try to post signage but follow this to be sure. Maybe meet
some eager young College students on the way!
We'll start in the Recital Hall, then check out their newly rebuilt
Auditorium. We'll ogle this multi-purposed performance space which supports
multimedia presentation, S.R. and recording. It's a lesson in modern
solutions to acoustics (by local consultants, Talaske) and integrated
recording, theater arts and sound reinforcement (c/o local AES Fellow, Jim
Brown)! Beyond their academic use, it¹s served performances by their
internationally renown dance / flamenco music troop, "Ensemble Español" and
6 time Grammy® winner, Paquito d¹ Rivera!
Be there or the #%$@ with ya!
Nuff said!
