EARS MEETS AT THE AUDIO TECHNOLOGY CENTER OF COLUMBIA COLLEGE

LOCATION: Audio Technology Center of Columbia College, 33 East Congress
- Lower Level w/ entrance on Wabash (near SW corner) (just SW of Auditorium

TRANSPORTATION: CTA very near as is Congress Expressway & Lake Shore Drive
PARKING: Parking lot about $6 just South of building. Another lot across the street
is slightly more.
AGENDA
7:30PM: We'll join our AES peers for a Vibrational Analysis of the Musical Harp
presented by Melinda Carney
9:00PM: You can participate in one of two post presentation activities:
- Melinda Carney will give a tour of the acoustics facility & vibrations lab
- Mary Mazurek will present a critical listening Studio Session with performing
harpist Julia Roberts.
GUEST BIOGRAPHIES:
MELINDA CARNEY is currently a full time Faculty member in the Acoustics Dept.
at Columbia College in Chicago. She received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Idaho in 1998 and went on to work as a sales
engineer in the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning industry. She recently received
her Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois-Chicago with
an emphasis on vibrations and acoustics. Her thesis focused on improving the concert
harp by replacing the soundboard with engineered composite materials. Ms. Carney¹s
areas of interests include musical acoustics and vibrations. She is a member of the
Acoustical Society of America and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers
