LOCATION:
Ears meets Tuesday May 30th, 7:30pm at Wall to Wall Recording, 676 N. LaSalle
(Lower level) where well present the topic Engineer as Producer?. As the
recording climate changes and lines become blurred, what is expected of us
engineers? Often the rolls of both engineer and producer must be filled by
one person. Can both be done effectively? Join us for whats sure to be an
interesting and informative discussion led by EARS founder Michael Freeman,
Larry Sturm, and our host, Dan Dietrich. Their phone: 312-202-0093.

Appreciation File/Recap:
For last month's meeting we went back to our roots and just got together over
drinks and food to talk "gear, business, and music" (with the emphasis strangely
gravitating more to gear and music than business... hmmm...) at the Randolf
Wine Cellar and Tasting Room. I believe all who made it out had a great time
and it was in no small way thanks to Fran Allen-Leake's location suggestion and
Urban Guerilla's (Danny Leake's) generous donation toward food and drink to get
things started. We talked summing boxes, soundproofing, studio insurance (of
both the paper contract and concealed weapon varieties) just to name a few and
with cats like Danny and Fran Allen-Leake, Ken Paul, Eric Roth and Michael
Kolar around, there was plenty of reminiscing about the good ol' studios, the
good ol' ways, and the good ol' days, with just the right dose of current
issues and techniques to balance it out. I have to say I was absolutely right
about the fact that it's ALWAYS worth keeping that last Tuesday of the month
open for EARS. Even when a good meeting plan falls through (just until the next
month this time) it's still better to get together with my fellow members than
spend the evening just about any other way. It was agreed by all that this was
a great idea and should be kept in mind for future use. KJH
