LOCATION:
EARS Meets Tuesday November 28, 2006, 7:30pm at Soundscape Studio, 1848 West Fulton, Chicago, IL. [312] 850-9060

AGENDA & PRESENTATION:
Owner & our host, Mike Kolar, will lead a discussion on the "Business" side of our business. Those of us who earn income for our craft, to any degree, this is the kind of peer to peer sharing that can only happen within EARS!

Booking, Rates, No shows, Accounting, Alarm Systems, Insurance, responsibilities for Masters and even defining "Masters" are but a few meaty topics! Bring your experiences and resources, good and bad, you've learned of in this true peer to peer discussion.

PLUS ...
Our esteemed peer, Danny Leake, will generously offer a recap of last month's AES National Convention in San Fran - the city, not his wife Fran, jeez!

FYI: this is yet, another, tradition going back some 20 years since our Founder, Mike Rasfeld, would drag his projector along and show "slides" (not sliders) of shots taken of cool new gear and notable peers at this national geek event!

(believe me, for us passionate engineers, this event ROCKS! -ed.)

You may remember it was in a New York elevator, at a fabled, past AES convention, that EARS was born!

DIRECTIONS & PARKING:
The studio is at 1848 West Fulton Street and has the word "Dynamo" in red letters across the top of the building. Fulton Market turns into Fulton Street at Ashland Aveune. OFFICER NOMINATIONS:
At this point, our incumbent Co-President, Kerry Haps was the only nominee.

His "Co-President", and 13 year member, Mary Mazurek, was forced to step aside due to injuries suffered in a traffic accident just 2 months ago. Though now functionally recovered, she officially declined to run again after years of dutiful service as Editor & President.

Please join the EARDRUM staff in offering a hearty "EARS Cheer" to Mary with sincere thanks!

Although historically, EARS membership has typically welcomed a current leader when they're willing to again serve, terms are for 1 year so an election, or at least a vote of support, is recorded every year so the floor can remain open as long as the candidate's current membership, in good standing, is verifiable.

Note: Our beginnings were of a much smaller, mutually acquainted, peer group and long before Email was common, except for the military, higher education, national politics & org's like U.N.C.L.E. ; C.O.N.T.R.O.L.; S.M.E.R.S.H. & K.A.O.S.!

However, our evolving membership, both local & national, has made it both possible and fair, to include their voice via E-ballots. This also allows more careful and accurate membership verification and precludes a flood of "new" attendees to sway an election simply by being there on one night. Hey, this is Chicagah - it could happen!

ELECTIONS:
IF you are a current (or new) member, as of 11/28/06, please send your e-vote specifically as follows:

To: ears@ears-chicago.org

From: You're listed membership email contact i.e. where you receive your EARDRUM

(you must not alter or block your email source code)

Subject line: (the name of the candidate you're voting for)

Body:
You're name, physical contact info, last membership payment date & method (mailed or delivered at meeting, & via cash or check) even if in transit. this will give us time to verify your membership and voting eligibility.

If you're adding a "Write-In" candidate, please verify their contact info, current membership and willingness to run and serve! Presumably, you know this and already asked - right?

- OR -

Of course, you may vote in person at the next meeting!

Barring any unforeseen logistical difficulties, the winner will be officially & publicly announced on the EARS website and in the EARDRUM.

DUES:
If you haven't already done so, please send your $25 dues check made payable to E.A.R.S. to: E.A.R.S. c/o Pegasus Recording, P.O. Box 578903, Chicago, IL 60657.

If you paid your dues and you are not getting this notice directly, please send an e-mail to ears@ears-chicago.org.

Recaps will soon follow but, until then, "'nuff said!"
