7pm: Tape Archiving Presentation oriented towards future student internships given by notable professional Kelly Pribble.
"As time passes, it is becoming increasingly clear to media archivists globally that magnetic-based media faces a severe threat, and we are in a “Race Against Time”. Magnetic media is naturally degrading, and if action is not taken today, we risk losing precious historical music, video, and film in the near future. Media archivists and scientists are working together to understand these challenges and determine what is needed to rescue the most vulnerable materials. In this (lecture or presentation), I will share the current conditions of at-risk master recordings, demonstrate what can presently be accomplished, and highlight how the collaboration between archivists and scientists can lead to innovative solutions”
8pm: Short EARS members meeting; pizza & refreshments
